Using skills in biotechnology and environmental genomics to explore marine ecosystems and advance student learning.

I am a biotechnology professional with a Master’s degree and over 13 years of experience in Cell culture, Bioassays, and Molecular biology. My career began in cancer biology and drug discovery, where I explored the molecular mechanisms driving disease and evaluated the therapeutic potential of both synthetic and natural compounds using advanced in vitro and in vivo models. This foundation shaped my approach to research, combining scientific curiosity with precision, innovation, and a strong commitment to impactful outcomes.

Beyond the bench, I am passionate about mentorship and collaboration. I have guided undergraduate and graduate students in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing, while working closely with multidisciplinary teams to standardize protocols, enhance reproducibility, and contribute to technical documentation, presentations, and research reporting.

I also bring extensive expertise in laboratory systems and operations, including developing SOPs for GMP-compliant workflows, managing biorepositories with rigorous quality control, and implementing and maintaining Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to ensure accurate sample tracking and data integrity. With hands-on experience in laboratory logistics and operations, I am committed to building efficient, compliant, and high-performing research environments.

Today,I apply this multidisciplinary expertise to marine and environmental genomics. This transition opens new possibilities to explore and protect marine ecosystems, using genomics to reveal hidden biological complexity, strengthen biodiversity conservation, and contribute to discoveries that connect environmental and human health.

"The ocean is a living library of genetic diversity, and every sample holds a story waiting to be uncovered. My journey began in drug discovery, decoding disease at the cellular level, and today I bring years of research experience to exploring this new frontier. I am inspired by the opportunity to decode the ocean’s story, using genomics to understand, protect, and sustainably harness marine life. I am driven by the idea that careful, precise work in the lab can contribute to preserving ocean ecosystems, advancing biodiversity conservation, and uncovering discoveries that benefit both human health and the planet. What excites me most is combining rigorous laboratory research with curiosity-driven exploration of one of Earth’s final frontiers, using science not only to discover but also to safeguard and sustainably harness the incredible potential of marine life."
