Dr. Roqaya Ismail

Finding solutions to marine pollution that deliver cleaner oceans.

Dr. Roqaya Alamiry is an applied environmental scientist whose work connects water engineering with environmental sustainability. Her academic foundation is in water and environmental engineering, with particular focus on desalination systems and marine water treatment technologies and their environmental implications.

Dr. Roqaya Ismail

Her doctoral research examined seawater purification processes and assessed the sustainability of desalination systems, combining technical evaluation with socio-environmental analysis through structured SWOT assessment. She later expanded her research into electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) applications for water quality monitoring, contributing to alternative analytical approaches in environmental studies.

Her developing research interests include pollutant impact and bioaccumulation, marine biotechnology and bioactive compounds, harmful algal bloom dynamics, and microplastics monitoring. She is genuinely interested in learning, growing, and building research that links engineering principles with marine science to create practical and regionally relevant environmental solutions.

Dr. Roqaya Ismail

In addition to her research, she serves as Head of the Marine Biology Department and Director of Central Laboratories at the University of Khorfakkan. In this role, she supports academic development, laboratory advancement, and research capacity building while continuing to grow her own research journey.

Dr. Roqaya Ismail

She believes that steady effort, collaboration, and continuous learning are essential to making a meaningful contribution to marine environmental protection.
